Gary Shaffer

Library Director, Management Professor, and Author

Dr. Gary Shaffer is the Immediate Past President of CLA, serves as Treasurer ofCalifa, and Director of Library Services for the City of Palm Desert. He previously served as Director/CEO of libraries in Glendale (CA) and Tulsa. He has also worked as a library administrator, librarian, and trainee within the communities of Sacramento, Los Angeles County, and Brooklyn. Gary previously ran the USC Marshall School of Business Master of Management in Library and Information Science (MMLIS) program and served as a professor. He has published three library management books. Gary is a 2006 LJ Mover & Shaker.
