Karen graduated from UC Irvine with her bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a minor in International Studies in 2012. Afterwards, she taught English abroad through the Teach for China program. She went back to school in 2018 and in June of 2022, she earned her MLIS from San Jose State University. She was hired in February of 2023 she was hired by the city of Glendale as a Children's Librarian through the Public Library Diversity Resident (PLDR) program. During her time as a PLDR, she has created programs, developed the children's DVD collection, and created her own sensory storytime.
