AnaMaria Ruiz immigrated from Guatemala to California and calls herself an Angeleno. She attended California State Polytechnic University, Pomona.
Also, completed a two-year national leadership training funded by Bank of America.
AnaMaria has a passion for adult literacy and has worked in the field for over fifteen years. At Centro Latino for Literacy, she re-designed an outreach plan for a County-wide Literacy Campaign, including a tutor-training model for a web-based literacy course. That course teaches non-literate Spanish-speaking adults to read and write. She now found a new calling at the Azusa City Library, preparing learners become U.S. citizens.
