Program Assistant Hayward Public Library Hayward, CA
Coordinating family literacy events, crafts, and even books is often a fun task but can also be overwhelming. How do you stay present to nourish different ages and diverse cultures in the time allotted? This program will explore best practices for facilitating family literacy programming that is exciting, relevant, and responds to the needs and wants of not only your family literacy learner population but also your volunteers and staff. In doing so, we can create family literacy programming that is educational and enjoyable for all parties involved—learners, families, volunteers, and staff alike! Together, we’ll explore activities and program content we’ve had success with, do an activity to share and gather ideas, and reflect on grounding ourselves as staff. Participants will leave with nurturing suggestions for books, crafts, and activities plus inspiration to guide your own specific program needs and desires.
