The DIY Sustainable Spa provides a space for teens to learn about self-care and raise awareness about the importance of mental health. Staff lead workshops demonstrating how to use every day, household items to make face and lip masks promoting relaxation and healthy habits. The all-natural ingredients are provided by the library including brown sugar, honey, nutmeg, rice flour, and much more. The library also provides containers for patrons to take home their creations. While mixing their ingredients, teens can enjoy healthy snacks and refreshing spa water. Finally, resources such as books on display can help patrons learn more about the positive impacts of self-care, well-being, and sustainability. The goal of this program is to empower teens to practice self-care and be mindful of how their mental health affects their overall wellness by providing them with the ideas and resources that can be accessed at home.
