The Riverside County Library System has implemented an innovative mobile outreach program to serve our expansive 7,303 square-mile service area. Our fleet of four Library Connect vans functions as fully-equipped mobile branches, designed to bridge access gaps in one of California's largest counties. Each van features: - Curated, rotating collections tailored to community needs - Mobile Wi-Fi hotspots for on-site internet access - Laptops and tablets for patron use - A skilled team providing personalized support, connecting patrons with library and local resources Our program emphasizes: - Equitable Access: Regular stops at underserved areas, schools, senior facilities, and community centers. - Digital Inclusion: Providing technology access and digital literacy training. - Diverse Programming: Offering intergenerational library programming, workshops, job search assistance, and ESL support. - Community Engagement: Collaborating with local organizations to maximize impact. - Data-Driven Service: Utilizing analytics to optimize routes and services. This mobile initiative has significantly extended our reach, bringing vital library services to patrons facing geographic, socioeconomic, or mobility barriers. We're continually refining our approach to meet evolving community needs and welcome discussions on mobile library best practices.
